The midfielder had initially committed to Spain. He had previously played for Spain’s U-21 team and scored three goals in 17 appearances. He has gone six years without missing a La Liga game. Last season, he had eight goals and five assists in La Liga. Another former La Liga player, Tariq Lampty, has also switched nationality to Ghana. He is expected to play against Angola in September.

The Ghanaian Football Association (GFA) is the governing body of the game. Players can switch nationality as long as they have not played more than three international games before their 21st birthday.

Inaki Williams was born in Bilbao to Ghanaian parents. His international debut came in an under-21 game against Bosnia in 2016. He has since played for Spain’s senior team. His decision to switch countries was made in the wake of reports that he had turned down the opportunity to play for his country. However, Williams’ tweets on social media proved otherwise.

Inaki Williams Faces Racism in Spain.

A section of the Espanyol crowd chanted racial slurs towards Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams during a match in Spain. The chants were made at a game in which Espanyol were unable to score. According to local TV footage, a section of the home crowd made monkey noises at Williams. Williams, who was substituted after the 1-1 draw, was seen reacting to the chants.

The crowd’s chants were reminiscent of the time that a Manchester City supporter was arrested after making monkey noises towards Fred. The chants also resembled those made by some fans of the Spanish club, which fined a fan after racially abusing a black player. Regardless of the racist nature of the chants, Williams has been subjected to them for a few matches now.
